We have meetings at Saint Theresa Catholic School most mondays at 7-8pm. Check the Calendar for more information on dates.
Scouts should be in Class A uniforms unless otherwise specified.
During flags ceremonies, which are at the beginning and end of meetings, no hats or shirts should be worn above the uniform.
Troop 203 is split up into multiple even groups of scouts, called Patrols. Patrols act like a family inside of the troop, doing activities together and getting to know each other. Patrols get reselected a few times a year to allow scouts to be exposed to new people and get to know the whole troop. Patrols decide on a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader, who take on responsibility and guide the patrol to success.
Troop 203 as a whole is run by the Patrol Leader Council, which includes each of the Patrol Leaders as well as other elected positions. The Patrol Leader Council, or PLC, is run by the Senior Patrol Leader, or SPL, and the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, or ASPL. These are older scouts who have proved that they are capable of this role.
Troop 203 goes on many trips, does service hours, and more. The PLC and any scouts who are interested in helping the troop all meet every few months to plan the troops events. Generally, troop 203 participates in the events below. All events and details will be on the Calendar and sent out by email.
Troop meetings - Every monday, Troop 203 meets at Saint Theresa Catholic School unless otherwise specified. At meetings, scouts have fun, participate in troop or patrol activities, advance their rank, learn skills related to leadership and responsibility, and integrate into Troop 203's amazing community.
PLC meetings - Every few months, the PLC gets together and plans events for the troop. Any and all scouts are welcome and encouraged to join, we'd love to hear your ideas and feedback.
Campling trip - Once per month, we go on a 2-3 day camping or backpacking trip. These trips are a lot of fun and a great way for scouts to learn many skills, from survival to independance. Split onto patrols, scouts will put up tents, cook food, play games, participate in troop hikes or activities, and enjoy a fire when possible.
Community service - Once or twice a month, we go into the community to help out in a number of ways. Some ways we contribute to the community unclude picking up trash, building sheds or benches, cleaning up and terraforming areas, and more. Along with helping out the community, these projects provide opportunities for scouts to learn a variety of skills, learn about the environment, work hard, and have fun.
Wente - Every summer, near the beginning, Troop 203 goes to Wente Scout Reservation, one of the two boy scout camps operated by our council, the San Francisco Bay Area Council. In the week that scouts spend there, they do a lot. Earning merit badges, shooting rifles, hanging out with the troop, and much more. To learn more about what scouts do at Wente, check out their website here.
Long trip - In addition to Wente, every summer our troop goes on a longer adventure for older scouts. Common trips include Northern Tier or other High Adventure activities, or longer backpacking trips to amazing places such as Yosemite.
Short trip - For younger scouts, or scouts who don't have time for a longer trip, we also do a shorter trip every summer.
